PRESERVING THE PAST, PREPARING THE FUTURE
The Center’s Major Gifts Initiative is a $5 million campaign to raise funds for necessary improvements and expansion. Through this effort, we will continue to preserve America’s agrarian past while planning for the future.
Renovation & Expansion
Since the Center opened in the 1960s, its facilities have served it well. However, the facility and grounds are beginning to show their age and are in need of renovation and expansion.
  • A new sloped roof is needed to replace the current flat structure on the Main Building
  • Repairs are required to the roof of the Museum of Farming
  • New HVAC systems are needed in the Main Building and the Museum of Farming to protect the exhibits and make our facilities more comfortable for visitors
  • The Entrance Lobby must be updated and expanded to provide a better greeting area for visitors
  • The Museum Store, which provides revenue for the Center’s operational needs, requires renovation and enhancement
Exhibits that Engage
The Ag Center is committed to making history alive and meaningful through the use of both “high tech, high touch” and “low tech, high touch” experiences, in addition to traditional museum exhibits. To that end, plans are in place to continue the ongoing improvement of our exhibits.
  • Displays in the new Hall of American Agriculture will link Hall of Fame inductees to specific artifacts and events
  • Interactive exhibits will offer visitors the opportunity to test their knowledge of agriculture and its history and personalities
  • An interactive simulator of a farmer’s combine will allow visitors to experience firsthand a crop’s cycle of life from planting to harvest
Endowing the Future
Endowment funds provide critical money for permanent investment, the annual interest from which is used to support the Center’s ongoing operations and provide the resources to plan confidently for the future. Donors have the opportunity to create a legacy benefiting the Ag Center for many years.

Programs and services affected by endowments include:
  • Supplementary staff in the administration, collections, education, and building/grounds departments
  • Enhanced ability to collect and preserve artifacts and archival records
  • Ability to maintain the museum’s infrastructure
  • A full calendar of innovative, changing exhibits and education programs
