June 5 – August 4, 2017
Growing plants, animals and children at Camp GROW!
Camp GROW! is a summer day camp for children who have completed grades 1-6. Held on the grounds of the National Agricultural Center and Hall of Fame in Bonner Springs, KS, the camp uses the 4-H curriculum. If campers are not already members of 4-H, they can become 4-H members and be paired with clubs. Campers can choose from a list of 4-H projects to take to the Wyandotte County Fair July 11-15 as part of the camp.
Camp is packed with fun activities and learning experiences! And what is summer fun without fishing and swimming! Campers will fish in our on-site pond and go swimming at the YMCA weekly.
The camp is broken into two-week themed sessions:
Session 1: Flocks & Herds, June 5-16 – Learn about chickens with our poultry house and egg incubator, fish in our on-site pond, and experience all kinds of animals and birds first-hand, including horses, goats, sheep and cows.
Session 2: Robots & Rockets, June 19-30 – Build Lego and Junk Drawer robots and water rockets. Learn how GPS technology is used in different ways. Watch a blacksmith fashion art out of metal. Plus so much more!
Session 3: Sticks & Bugs, July 10-21 – Explore our nature trail and field to discover different bugs, plants and trees. Learn about pollinators and horticulture in our garden from Master Gardeners. Take part in a bio scrape and hunt for life in the soil.
Session 4: Arts & Explorations, July 24-August 4 – Refine skills or learn new ones in photography, culinary, arts, theater writing and more!
(No camp July 3-7)
Camp Fee: $360 per camper per two-week session ($180/week). Some scholarships are available; contact us for more information about them.
When registering for the camp, select the sessions you would like your child/children to attend. Registration deadline for each session is seven days prior to the first day of that session. Full payment for each session is due at time of registration. No refunds if campers miss any days/weeks for which they are registered.
Before/After Care: The camp begins at 9 AM and concludes at 4 PM daily. Campers should arrive between 8-9 AM. Before and after care is available at a cost of $10 per child per day (7:30-8 AM and 4-5:30 PM), and is paid on an as-needed basis and separately from the camp.
